Building your own free website is easier than you think!

image of laptopNothing is free, right? Well, some things actually are and here’s an opportunity to build your own WordPress website for free!

The domain offered by Wealthy Affiliate gives you the chance to build your own WordPress website for free.

Why Would This Be Free?

Good question. Wealthy Affiliate gives you the chance to try before you buy. The truth is, it’s not right for everyone.

Some people do not have the patience to learn the technical aspects of building a website.

WordPress can seem a bit overwhelming at first, trying it out is a great way to see if it’s for you. The Wealthy Affiliate platform is aimed at people who want to make money online with affiliate marketing.

Personally, I am not interested in affiliate marketing but I love the WA community and host several sites there. I’ve learned so much about WordPress and SEO from this great resource.

When it comes to DIY websites, most people use the drag/drop style. These are not always terrible (usually) but WordPress is a much better option if you’re going for the true professional look.

A Few Terms To Know:

Domain Name:

This is the address for your website ( It directs visitors to the server or hosting company that your website lives on. A typical domain will cost you around $12.00 a year to register.

The Wealthy Affiliate domain is free to try. It would look like this:

Hosting Company:

Your website has to live somewhere, most people use a hosting company to handle this. A more advanced user can setup and maintain their own servers, not recommended for beginners.

There are many hosting companies to choose from, each offering different plans and fees. For the beginner, a shared business plan is usually acceptable.

Hosting Fee:

The hosting company charges for your website to be on their server. This is typically a monthly fee that is discounted when paid annually. Webhosting will cost anywhere from $7.99 per month to $100.00 per month depending on your needs.

Your WordPress website will need a theme, there are literally hundreds to choose from. Most themes also allow you to try them out for free but may have limited customization options. The serious website designer will use a paid theme, but don’t worry about that for now.

I would highly recommend trying this if you have ever wanted to build and maintain your own website.

Get started on your free website today, it could change your life forever!
