Building a Website – How To Preview on Mobile
You’re working along on your website, things are going well and you’re happy with the layout. You hit ‘preview’ one last time and it’s perfect.
You publish and breath a sigh of relief. Later on, you are checking your site on your smartphone and something is wrong. The section you just completed looks terrible on mobile! Ouch!
If you’re a WordPress user, you can probably relate to this scenario. Is there a way to avoid it? Yes!
How To Preview Your Website on Mobile:
When you hit the ‘preview’ button on WordPress, a new tab opens and shows you how your finished page or post will look. There’s a website called mobiletest.me that allows you to view a website on several different mobile devices (their list does need to be updated).
If you copy & paste the link from the PREVIEW tab to mobile me, you can get a live look before you publish.
Well, that’s one way. You can also sit with several of your own devices, with your site open on each one. Every time you make a change and publish, refresh your mobile device browser and look again. Tedious for sure, but considering that at least half of your website visitors will be on mobile, it’s worth the effort.
You can also right click your preview page and select ‘inspect’. From there you can toggle the mobile icon (see picture) and it will preview as well. I personally do not care for this method but you can try it if you want.
